benefits of expressing breastmilk
In India, the common complaints we can hear is breastmilk supply not sufficient and baby not latching to the breast correctly. The main reason is that being c section is rampant and there is a mismatch with the milk production and delivery. Moreover, the mother is not encouraged to breastfeed within the first 48 hours. After the first urgency of breastfeeding is lost it becomes a war for many mothers to breastfeed their babies. Bottle feeding becomes the only alternative and the formula milk. The race against time to feed your child breastmilk as early as possible is lost. But we should look at the other options like pumping (expressing) breastmilk and feed your baby as the next best alternative. The benefits are almost as good as breastfeeding and far superior to formula. So pumping or expressing breastmilk wins over formula milk.
  1. Scientifically established that premie babies benefit most breastmilk. But latching is not possible. Start with the hospital grade pumping machine or do invest in a good pumping machine.
  2. Working mothers have to go back to work. The pangs of not breastfeeding would have a fantastic alternative.
  3. A perfect choice for moms with twins. It becomes overwhelming for a mother to sometimes breastfeed with twins. Expressing breastmilk is the best alternative for them. A combination of breastfeeding and express feeding would be an incredibly comfortable.
  4. Sometimes it helps it relieving blocked duct or mastasis or sore nipple.
  5. It also serves as an alternative to feeding baby breastmilk if the mother has an inverted nipple problem.
  6. Sometimes a child does not enjoy breastfeeding. Bottle feeding with breastmilk is another option.

The learning process of pumping is initially tedious. But if one is patient and follows the method it will eventually fall into a routine schedule. Initially, the breast pump would feel a pinch in the pocket. But the cumulative benefit is incomparable. Moreover, the formula milk would eventually cost more in the long run. here to edit.

All pictures painted rosy after your baby arrives suddenly flies out of the window when you find your baby crying incessantly and nothing seems to work the way it is meant to be. You remember the colic word and it has hit you badly. As mother and parents you are at loss of ideas how to sooth your tiny little one. It is then you search for the remedies and the culprit who is causing such discomfort to him or her. The first thing to be assured is this phase is temporary. It never goes out completely however hard you try during this phase. But the only comfort is the episodes can be far and less virulent if you work more proactively towards it. My daughter suffered from it a lot even though breastfed and after trying a lot of remedies and suggestions i finally arrived at 5 natural remedies. This worked most of the time .

If you are breastfeeding exclusively then it is you who have to change your food habits or take in the remedies for the infant to absorb it through your milk. After the child grows around 6 to 7 months you can feed the natural remedies directly to your baby.

  1. One small bowl of boiled raw papaya  everyday. It should be taken half an hour before the meal Papaya aids in digestion because of the following properties. It has papain which  helps with the breakdown of other ‘troublesome’ proteins, such as the gluten in wheat and the casein in milk, that are often the source of digestive problems. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which helps to reduce the gasin mother and so does your baby.
  2. Boil 1 tablespoon of cumin seeds and 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds for 15 minutes in  glass of water and let it cool. You can take 1 tablespoon of water at least  before half an hour of  breastfeeding .Cumin is  Carminative, which means that it relieves from you from gas troubles and your baby.
  3. Asafoetida/Hing also gives some relief from the colic pain Just add more of it in your food.
  4. Garlic and ginger -Boil 5 clove of garlic and 1 slice of ginger in very little water.make a paste of it and eat just a little  before  lunch with some salt. You can make a paste and store it for a week.
  5. Broccoli, cauliflower and other gas causing vegetables should be eaten well cooked in moderation and not at night or lunch. Best should be in the morning breakfast.
